YVETTE SOLIS A MEXICAN-AMERICAN DIRECTOR AND
AN EMMY-NOMINATED PRODUCER BASED IN OAKLAND
YVETTE IS A MEXICAN AMERICAN DIRECTOR AND AN EMMY NOMINATED PRODUCER BASED IN OAKLAND.
She cut her teeth in non-fiction television. 10 years, 10 shows. Most notably she was a producer for 5 years on the pop-science juggernaut MythBusters. Her time at MythBusters was extremely formative— not only expanding her field of view on various subjects, but also helping shape her multi-disciplinary approach to storytelling. She is twice Emmy nominated for her contributions to the series.
She would go on to direct 5 more docu-series that explored curiosity, science, engineering, history, art, pop culture, and technology. High explosives used when needed. With a proven track record of leading stunts of all sizes, she expertly balances the spectacle with the heart of the story. Her work has aired across major networks such as Discovery, Science, Netflix, and Nat Geo.
As a commercial producer she’s captured projects across the globe in Honduras, Germany, Switzerland, Mexico, India, and Lithuania for notable brands and partners. She is currently in post production on a special project with Swedish inventor and friend Simone Giertz about the design and manufacturing of everyday objects we take for granted.
As she looks ahead, Yvette is excited to make new work with creative collaborators who push each other to new heights, to pursue projects that expand her sense of self and the world at large, exploring themes of culture, identity, and the complexities of the human experience.
